Access is open to any research institution across the world
Our mission is to make access to high-quality science data from space open to everyone. With our new data access model, we remove the need for complex science proposals and simplify the way researchers can obtain the data they need to accelerate their research and discoveries. For our survey programmes, we have developed Stardrive, an innovative data and collaboration portal that provides a platform to the research community, enabling the exchange of new ideas and a new approach to play a pivotal role in each of our science programmes.
Meet the Twinkle founding members:
Our upcoming satellites, Mauve and Twinkle will deliver spectroscopic data needed for the in-depth analysis of stars, extrasolar and solar system objects. Join researchers from across the world through yearly membership of our collaborative survey programmes or pursue your unique interests using hourly telescope access.

Survey Programmes
Our survey programmes bring together scientists from across the world to utilise the capabilities of our satellites and produce impactful science. The science objectives for each survey are decided by the members before the start of the survey programme, who collaborate to produce cohesive observational programmes that deliver a vast data set across a myriad of science themes.
Thousands of Hours
Each survey allocates thousands of telescope hours per year to one or many science themes, enabling long baseline observations, large-scale population studies and unlocking a true time domain science opportunity.
Survey Design
We put researchers at the heart of each survey, with early members forming the science leadership team whose mandate is to define the science goals, shape the observational strategy and select the final target list. Each survey establishes working groups that focus on specific science themes. Members can set up, openly collaborate and contribute to any working group.
Class-leading Tools
We have developed the next generation of data management, simulation and collaboration tools and integrated them into a user-friendly portal, Stardrive. This enables our dedicated time and survey members to plan, simulate and schedule the complex observational programmes.
A Positive Collaboration
All members receive the data simultaneously and have equal opportunities to publish through clear data and publication policies. Each programme provides an international platform that focuses on collaboration, inclusivity and diversity. A key component of this is the creation of an environment that promotes constructive communication that fosters new scientific collaborations.
Support for Early Career Scientists
We actively support students and early career scientists providing a unique opportunity to be involved in the planning and delivery of a major science programme. We regularly run speaking events to showcase early career research and through our ExtRA Time initiative offer dedicated telescope hours for student observations and learning.
Individuals and institutions can participate in any survey programme via annual memberships with all members receiving the following benefits:
