With offices in the UK and Italy, Blue Skies Space has assembled an experienced team who have previously worked at organisations such as NASA, Airbus, Surrey Satellite Technology, Caltech and UCL, bringing a wealth of expertise in space science, satellite engineering, satellite construction and operations.

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and organised individual with a relevant science background to support the programme manager in the planning and administration of science programmes we will deliver from our satellites. In this role, you will assist with scheduling and coordinating activities, tracking progress, and ensuring the smooth execution of science initiatives. You will contribute to the preparation and review of scientific documentation, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and help organise meetings, workshops, and conferences. Additionally, you will support the programme manager in monitoring project timelines and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure programme objectives are met. This role reports to the Senior Science Programme Manager and may involve occasional out-of-hours and weekend work, as well as some international travel. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in cutting-edge space science and collaborate with experts across multiple disciplines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the programme manager with coordinating, planning, scheduling and administrating our science programmes.
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of scientific documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including scientists, engineers, and partner organisations.
  • Assist with organising meetings, workshops, and conferences, ensuring smooth logistical arrangements.
  • Monitor project timelines and help track key performance indicators (KPIs) for science planning and execution.

Key Requirements
Essential requirements for the role are:

  • A science degree in Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related areas.
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience post diploma or higher degree.
  • Proven interest in space-related sciences and/or involvement in satellite missions.
  • Experience managing stakeholders, with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in project support/coordination, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to collaborate in a team setting while effectively managing individual time, schedules, and workload.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

It would also be desirable for the candidate to have:

  • Some experience with programming (e.g., Python) and data analysis would be advantageous.
  • Experience in a project support or administrative role within a scientific or technical environment.
  • Knowledge of scientific data handling and analysis.
  • Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience.
